possibly使用错误。前面侧重说明一种现象，而因为这种现象使得XXX具有了某种能力，所以应该用情态动词CAN,possible使用错误。 对于-ing形式放在句末使用，首先要看其作用,一般情况下有两种作用：（1）表示伴随状态，和主句谓语同时发生，共用同一个主语；（2）修饰之前的名词，说明其属性。所以一般选这种答案的时候还是要理解一下意思，看到底谁是动作的发起者。主句的主语是number,显然不能充当动词serve的发出者。临近的名词是temperature，显然也不能充当serve的发出者。
