A、C、D简单，可以直接杀。对B和E，首先比较结构的题目先根据逻辑意思明确比较对象是什么。在此题中，比较的对象应该是两个句子的主语比较，即被鲨鱼杀的人和被蜜蜂杀的人，因为根据逻辑意思同一批人不可能既被鲨鱼杀又被蜜蜂杀，且主句主谓宾齐全，所以比较从句必须补出谓语动词说明这是主语的比较（此时已经可以排除E，E中只有分词killed）。其次，E中the ones表特指主句中的 seven people，逻辑意思也不对，同一批人不能被杀两次。

the ones 不是等于those，应该指代同名异物？那就不是绝对指代被鲨鱼杀的那七个人？所以the ones这里没有歧义的意思吧？个人观点是，觉得ron说的对，B更平行，have been 与 have been 平行 然后B中省略了People，这样平行结构是比E要好的。

我专门去看了下曼哈顿对于one的解释，说one是indefinite，那泛指是没问题的。不过我又想，是不是the one特指了呢？

Ron:
no, "ones" is a legitimate word. here's a sentence in which it's used correctly:
once the new phones are available, people will no longer pay full price for the older ones.in terms of meaning, "ones" is very similar to "those", as used in comparisons (e.g., Today's electric cars are much more reliable than those of just a few years ago).
on this exam, you will never have to decide which of these two to use.

BE的区别是时态问题。正确答案用完成时，是为了和前面this century时间点的完成时平行。the ones并不是decision point。这点RON也提到了。

Less is wrong is A, C out

D compares number with people so wrong

E has 2 problems:
1- no parallelism (have been) with (killed)
2- \"the ones\" is ambiguous, is it \"the movies\" or \"the people\"?

when you consider parallel constructions, your main goal is just to pick the choice with the best parallelism.

The issue is that whenever you use "the one" or "the ones", you're pointing to a very specific individual or individuals。
In (E), the logic subtly falls apart when we use "the ones." (E) compares the number of people killed by the sharks to the specific people killed by bee stings. (B) clarifies that you're comparing the quantity of people who were killed by each source.

1. people为可数名词，用few不用little;
2. 用those/that/one/ones指代的条件：出现过完全可比的结构，如\"people killed by the great white shark\", 而题干以一般句的形式出现，不可用ones指代.

补充一个ron说的关于破折号：in this context, the dash essentially serves the same purpose as a comma. the only difference is that you don't use dashes at random; you use them when there is some special emphasis or irony (or both) in what you're saying.
